Ofsted Reports

I am delighted to share the Ofsted inspection report from our two-day section 8 inspection on 28th & 29th June 2023.

The inspection report states that Holbrook Primary School continues to be a Good school. The very positive report is a recognition of the persistent hard work and commitment of the staff, supported by parents, pupils and governors, to make Holbrook school a strong, happy and successful primary school and a unique place to learn and work.

A one word judgement does not do any school justice, so it is important to read the narrative that can be found beneath this. Here are just some of the positive comments made by the lead inspector in the report:

“Pupils are happy at Holbrook”

“Strong relationships demonstrate the school’s vision of ‘Aiming high, succeeding together’”

“Children in Reception get off to a great start”

“Pupils feel very safe”

“Leaders are ambitious for every pupil to succeed”

“Teachers across the school have good subject knowledge”

“Leaders have developed a strong culture of safeguarding”

We are extremely proud of our fantastic pupils, who were praised for their oracy, talking confidently and enthusiastically to the inspector about their learning and school life. He noted their “strong attitudes to learning” and “perseverance”, as well as recognising that older pupils “act as superb role models for younger pupils”.

Ofsted is only one aspect of how we measure our success – our true measure remains our children, so in addition to academic success, it is great to see our school values, ethos and community spirit strongly reflected in the report. As you are aware, we strongly believe in educating the ‘whole child’ and ensuring that we provide pupils with a wide variety of experiences and opportunities, a range of responsibilities and teaching them about valuing and respecting others. Above all, we want them to really enjoy coming to school, as we know that when pupils feel happy, safe and cared for, they do well both academically and socially.

I also wanted to personally thank everyone who completed Ofsted’s Parent View survey. Your support for our school came across very strongly and we are so pleased about this, as working effectively with parents/carers is a crucial aspect of our work and contributes greatly to the success of our school.

This is an excellent report, particularly at a time when the benchmark for ‘Good’ is at the highest level it has ever been. We have a strong leadership team and supportive governing board that are ambitious for the school’s future and look forward to securing further developments in the school’s work. Working in partnership with parents/carers we will build on the successes of this report, addressing any areas that require further development and look forward with confidence to ensure that Holbrook school continues to go from strength to strength.

Thank you once again for all the support you continue to give the school. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
