Shared Vision - ethos and values

The school’s vision, values and aims are central to what Holbrook is about and the development of the school over the coming years.  Working with parents we are committed to developing children to become

  • Successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve
  • Confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives
  • Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society

Each segment can be further explained as follows;

Holbrook Core Skills

We encourage and expect high standards in all that we do.  We want every learner to be highly skilled in English (Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening), Maths, Science and Computing.  We recognise that these subject areas are important in providing children with the basic core skills necessary to equip them for life-long learning.

Holbrook Curriculum

Whilst we recognise the importance of the core skills we also want to educate the whole child with a broad, balanced and creative curriculum.  The Holbrook Curriculum is full of rich learning experiences that we provide for all of our pupils that make learning meaningful, motivating and memorable. Our Inclusive ethos is also very important – every child has equal opportunities to experience success at their own level of ability.

Holbrook Learning Skills

These are the positive attitudes to learning and transferable skills that enable pupils to be life-long learners, well-equipped for modern day Britain.  We are committed to inspiring pupils to become responsible and successful learners.

Holbrook Values

Our Ethos Values nurture respect for spiritual, moral and cultural values and a consideration for the needs and feelings of others.  They allow all children to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence both within their community and with the environment.  They also guide us and underpin everything we do.
